what is a film festival?
if you love movies,
you’ll love the film festival…

A film festival is the conduit for filmmakers of uncommon and independent artistic vision
to have their films shown outside of the traditional Hollywood channels.

The Litchfield Hills Film Festival screens films created by a richly diverse group of talent; students of film and independent filmmakers alongside well-seasoned film professionals. Films from the famous and not-yet- famous comprise four days of inspired choices in feature, documentary, animation, and film short categories that deliver stories of deep poignancy, gentle observation, artistic perspective and unfettered imagination. Stories which mirror and direct our lives.

how does it work?
you decide…

Films run simultaneously all day and into the evening, Thursday through Sunday, in different theater venues in and about New MIlford, so part of the fun is choosing what you want to see, when, and where. A festival program guide, available when you purchase tickets,
gives detailed information of the festival schedule including descriptions of the film choices, screen times, and theater locations. Pick up your program early so you can plan ahead for your choices throughout the festival weekend, reserve your tickets, and join in on the excitement!

what else can we do?
participate…

In addition to the film screenings are workshops, Q& A sessions, panels and receptions
with various degrees of access depending on what pass you buy.

what is a Q&A?
ask…

Certain movies will be labeled "Q&A to follow", indicating that a question and answer session
is included in the ticket price of that particular screening. The Q&A’s are a fun way to get an
inside look at the various aspects of how the films come to life. Directors, screenwriters, actors, producers, cinematographers, composers, or crew (depending on who is in town) explain the details of making the film, and answer the questions you always wanted to ask.

what is a panel?
interact…

A panel is an excellent way to interact with grouped professions of a particular expertise,
or facet, in or around the filmmaking process. Panelists share a depth and concentration
of knowledge in a fun, exploratory forum with audience participation.

who can attend the workshops?
learn…

Workshops present a lively opportunity to share and discuss various filmmaking topics
in an instructional and interactive way. Anyone interested in workshops of an educational
focus may attend. Please inquire as to access requirements.

who can attend the receptions?
celebrate…

The Filmmakers Welcome and the Festival Awards Gala are private receptions, not open to
the general public, but are accessible with purchase the vip pass. The receptions are the
“feel-good and celebrate” end caps to the full festival experience, and provide the meet,
greet, eat, drink, and be merry of all those who comprise each festival season.
